I have over 25 years’ experience as a stone carver and sculptor. Originally from St. Petersburg, one of Russia’s most beautiful cities, I have trained and worked internationally throughout my career. My area of focus has primarily been on cathedral, architectural, and custom stone works.
I graduated from art college in St. Petersburg, Russia, in 1985 with a major in restoration, sculpture, and stone carving. From 1990 to 1995, I worked at Cathedral Church St. John the Divine in New York City. I founded Stonesculpt, an independent business specializing in custom stone carving and restoration, in early 2001 after relocating to California’s San Francisco Bay Area.
Prior to Stonesculpt, I lived and worked in New York City for almost six years. During that time I worked extensively on the impressive Cathedral Church St. John the Divine, which has been under construction over 100 years and is the largest cathedral in the United States.
The state of Alabama bestowed me with honorary citizenship status for my contribution to creating “The Alabama Column,” a 23-foot column carved directly into the side of a mountain at the entrance of a limestone quarry. Another master stone carver and I oversaw the 4-month project and trained local stone carvers in the process.
Since founding Stonesculpt, I have completed projects for a diverse array of clients, including:
- Macy’s Department Store in San Francisco
- Independent Film Festival in Los Angeles
- Park La Brea Apartments in L.A., and
- Stanford University in Palo Alto, California.
- Additionally, I created original sculptures that are on display in several art galleries in the Bay Area.
Specialties: Architectural projects, fireplace mantels, lettering & gilding, and original sculpture.
