Harold F. Clayton Carvings
Dallas, TX
My 25 years of experience has been devoted to carving stone and creating sculpture for private and public commissions.
I have been creating art all my life. I painted for over 20 years but got tired of stretching canvasses, so I moved into stone. I enjoy the physical end of maneuvering large rock and creating something beautiful out of it. The challenge is figuring out how to do it. After that, the carving is easy.
My professional training includes a summer at Massachusetts College of Art, Boston, Massachusetts, a Bachelors in Fine Arts in drawing and painting cum laude from the University of North Texas.
From 1982 to 1987 I created independent carvings and commissions in Pietrasanta, Italy with the Studio of Sem Ghelardini.
Specialties:
- Hand carved sculpture, architectural elements, fireplaces, cartouches, fountains and columns
- Favorite materials are Texas and Indiana limestone, Italian marbles or other limestone
- Creates site-specific work, original designs, and even work from photos or architectural plans
I have total design, drafting and AUTOCAD capabilities. I’m easy to work with and strive to deliver on time and in budget.
“My main attention is to detail and creating a piece that I am pleased with. If I am not happy, you will not be happy.”
